The cost of consulting is based on $60 an hour for face to face, phone, or other media communication, and $60 an hour for any research and reporting. Face to face consulting or location production services shall be billed portal to portal and, if services exceed one day out of town, transportation costs and per diem in the amount of 2 additional hours ($120) per day. Phone, internet, or other audio/text consultation shall be based on $1 a minute in 10 minute increments. Research and reporting shall be based on a flat $60 an hour. Any equipment required for production services will be billed by industry standard rental rates based on Hollywood rental catalogs.. The following are three popular client choices:

1. The $500 retainer: This is an open ended account based on an initial $500 non-refundable retainer which is applicable to whatever the client needs. This retainer establishes a monthly billing account which maintains a $500 credit balance until the client chooses to close the account, at which time any unused balance beyond the initial retainer is refunded. The client is at liberty to 'mix and match' consultation via any medium and execution of any creative services such as photography, cinematography, design, illustration, and more. 2. The $500 critique: The consultant reads, reviews, and reports on any book or film project based on whatever manuscript, filmscript, outline, and notes exist at the present stage of the project. The consultant will devote a minimum of 10 hours to the critique and deliver a minimum 5 page report providing assessment, advice, and options for the project. This assists refinement of a completed manuscript or filmscript, or, if the project contains only an outline with or without notes and partially completed components, it provides suggestions and directions for development.

3. Ghost writing or 'doctoring' of a book or filmscript: Based on a minimum half day (4 hour) advance payment for initial consultation, the consultant will provide an estimate for ghost writing a completed book or filmscript. The consultant signs a confidentiality agreement, and the client owns the 'by' line and all rights to the finished product. The consultants work is based on $60 an hour and past estimates have varied from: (1) $2,500 to 'doctor' or refine a completed book or filmscript including reordering and rewriting scenes and elements, and creating and writing supplemental scenes and elements. (2) to $10,000 and more to write a book or filmscript from scratch where there is no existing manuscript or filmscript or notes or research.
